Bushcare Opportunity dashed
This strip of land would be a great bushcare site at the heart of bandicoot territory and there is room to fit in the GreenWay shared path too. With the removal of the rails tracks on what is termed "the western fork" which bounds one side of Jack Shanahan Reserve in Dulwich Hill this section of the rail corridor is now officially disused. We have asked for it to be included in the Biodiversity Compensation Package but the cost of remendiating it ($100,000) is considered too much by TfNSW. Instead it is being used to store spoil from the light rail works. An opportunity missed. We will continue to lobby for its remediation and conversion to a bushcare site.
