Interested in the role creativity plays in urban transformation? Then head along to GROW: Places for People on Saturday 9 December. Enjoy an afternoon of artworks, artist talks and a Forum on the role of creativity in urban transformation facilitated by permaculturalist Costa Georgiadis.
Ten artists will showcase temporary artworks which explore and examine issues of urban growth including:
- urban growth needs
- urban biodiversity
- environmental sustainability
- Western Sydney’s heat island
- renewable energies and alternate technologies
- community connections
The selected artists are Emma Anna, Alessandro Berini & Selina Springett, Gabrielle Bates, Graham Chalcroft, Vivienne Lowe, Basilios Papaioannou, Sue Pedley, Mandy Schöne-Salter and Kate Smith.
3.30-4.30pm Artist talks
5-6pm Forum - A conversation around creativity, community collaborations and urban planning. Forum chaired by Costa Georgiadis
6-7pm Informal conversation session
Forum speakers include Jennifer Newman (UTS lecturer in Aboriginal Studies), Gabrielle Bates (visual artist), Nick Chapman (GreenWay Place Manager, Inner West Council); John Skennar (Artist Planner/Architect); Valerie Giammarco(Manager, City Design, Canterbury Bankstown Council)
