Local residents are being encouraged to join in events being held in the inner west to help clean up Australia. Clean Up Australia Day is the nation's largest community-based environmental event.
Every year, around 1,000 local residents collect more than five tonnes of waste from our roads and waterways.
This year, local environmental group Mudcrabs will be cleaning up the Cooks River mangroves next to Marrickville golf course, where rubbish is left behind when the tide goes out. The mangroves are next to the Wave Rock bush regeneration site. Click here for details.
NSW SES - Marrickville volunteers will be at Cooks River, between Illawarra Road and Tempe Reserve, to remove items from sections of the river that community groups can't safely access.
