Light rail stop landscape works nearly finished

26 August, 2014

Hawthorne Stop Steam Train 2The new landscaped areas around the light rail stops have certainly benefitted from the recent heavy rains. TfNSW are finishing off soft and hard landscaping works, public domain improvements and the installation of new lights and footpaths at Leichhardt North, Hawthorne, Waratah Mills Dulwich Grove and Dulwich Hill stops. Some work will be continuing for a while longer at Marion St., Taverners Hill and Lewisham West stops. Several years ago the GreenWay community advocated for the establishment of public art works as features at some of the new stops.

bilbyPlanning consent conditions required TfNSW to implement a public art program and the results have now been unveiled at various stops. The works celebrate the industrial heritage of the Rozelle Goods Line and the local environment along the GreenWay. Look out for the cute Bandicoot bench sculptures at Waratah Mills. What a great idea!
