Pelican rescue on the Cooks River

A pelican, dubbed 'Mr Percival', was rescued on the Cooks River thanks to the fast work of local bushcare volunteers.
The volunteers found the pelican with fishing line caught around its wing and notified WIRES. After a search down river it was located near Canterbury racecourse. An exhausted Mr Percival was brought back to safety at Boat Harbour, where the fishing line was removed and his wounds were treated.
